We screened 526 unrelated patients with autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, or simplex retinitis pigmentosa for evidence of mutations of the genes encoding S-antigen (S-Ag), interstitial retinol binding protein (IRBP), and the alpha-subunit of cone-specific transducin.
