A psychrophilic, Gram-negative, dark orange-pigmented bacterium, designated CL-AP4(T), was isolated from a culture of the green alga Pyramimonas gelidicola obtained from the Southern Ocean. Strain CL-AP4(T) grew optimally at 10 degrees C, in the presence of 3-4 % sea salts and at pH 8. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that strain CL-AP4(T) belonged to the family Flavobacteriaceae, with Maribacter arcticus...
