Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is a plant immune response induced by local necrotizing pathogen infections. Expression of SAR in Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) plants correlates with accumulation of salicylic acid (SA) and up-regulation of Pathogenesis-Related (PR) genes.
