OBJECTIVE: To identify a rare allele in the FGA locus in a Hainan Li ethnic family. METHODS: Short tandem repeat-PCR (STR-PCR) and DNA sequencing were used to detect the allele. RESULTS: A rare allele in the FGA locus was identified. It is FGA-13. CONCLUSION: This finding enriched the gene polymorphism database, and may improve the ability of individual identification.
