A fowl adenovirus isolated from a 'spiking mortality syndrome' field outbreak in broilers on the Delmarva Peninsula, USA, was identified by cross-neutralization tests and by restriction enzyme analysis using eight restriction enzymes as a strain of the fowl adenovirus serotype FAV12.
