Marek's disease (MD) is a highly contagious lymphoproliferative disease of chickens caused by a herpesvirus, while reticuloendotheliosis (REV) virus is an avian C-type retrovirus that causes bursal and nonbursal lymphomas which often closely resemble MDV lymphomas.
