A novel exopolysaccharide-degrading bacterium, designated strain 10C(T), was isolated from soil from Kitahiroshima city, Hokkaido, Japan. The novel isolate was Gram-negative, strictly aerobic and chemoheterotrophic. The DNA G+C content was 36.9 mol%.
