Gene differentiation in the ABO system of six caste groups of the Shudra community was studied in the Visakhapatnam District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The results suggest that only a small fraction of gene diversity (0.50%) is attributable to between caste groups; in other words 99.50% of the gene diversity exists within the castes of Shudras.
