The sex-linked dwarf gene (dw) was introduced into companion muscular dystrophic (am) and nondystrophic (Am+) New Hampshire chicken lines to investigate influences of the dwarf gene on breast muscle weights, muscle fiber area, and the histological expression of muscular dystrophy.
