OBJECTIVE: To describe clinical molecular testing for hereditary retinal degenerations, highlighting results, interpretation, and patient education. METHODS: Mutation analysis of 8 retinal genes was performed by dideoxy sequencing. Pretest and posttest genetic counseling was offered to patients.
