Signal transduction protein P(II) is dephosphorylated in Synechocystis sp. strain PCC 6803 by protein phosphatase PphA. To determine the impact of PphA-mediated P(II) dephosphorylation on physiology, the phenotype of a PphA-deficient mutant was analyzed.
