Genetic control of some morphological traits and the gliadin composition were examined in plants of two lines of common wheat carrying genes introgressed from the wild diploid cereal Aegilops speltoides. Leaf hairiness was shown to be controlled by a single introgressed dominant gene that was not allelic to the known common wheat gene Hl1.
