Forty-seven microsatellite loci were amplified in Drosophila melanogaster, Drosophila simulans, Drosophila mauritiana and Drosophila sechellia. The two cosmopolitan species D. melanogaster and D. simulans were found to be the most variable ones, followed by D. mauritiana and D. sechellia.
