Two hundred and thirty samples from five minority populations resident in Yunnan Province, PR China (the Mosuo, Mongolian, Naxi, Pumi and Tibetan communities) were analysed at eight polymorphic Y chromosome short tandem repeats (Y-STRs) loci.
