The authors describe an Alberta family with levodopa-responsive parkinsonism without cerebellar abnormalities. Genetic testing showed expanded repeats for SCA-2; other mutations for parkinsonism were excluded. The expanded allele shows interruption of the CAG repeat with CAA.
