Countries and health providers are following the path Iceland9s deCODE Genetics blazed 5 years ago and combining health and genetic data on large populations. They promise to deliver personalized medicine, but will they? Some ethicists also worry that data won9t remain confidential and suggest that companies, which will play a role in some projects, should not be allowed to profit from people9s genetic heritage.
