A polyphasic approach was used to establish the taxonomic position of two actinomycetes isolated from a Namibian soil and shown to utilise nitrile compounds as growth substrates. The organisms, strains NAM-BN063AT and NAM-BN063B, had chemical and morphological properties consistent with their assignment to the genus Gordonia.
